Dan Elish

Dan Elish is the author of nine novels, including The Worldwide Dessert Contest and The School for the Insanely Gifted (for kids), Nine Wives and The Misadventures of Justin Hearnfeld (for grown-ups), and Born Too Short, which won a 2004 International Reading Association Students’ Choice Award.

Dan also wrote the book for the Broadway musical 13, which premiered in 2008 at the Jacobs Theater and is now slated to be a movie by CBS Films, shooting in the spring of 2017. His most recent musical, Mann…and Wife (based on his novel Nine Wives) received its world premiere production this past winter at the Lyric Theater in Oklahoma.

Dan has written for TV, notably PBS’s Cyberchase. His novel The Worldwide Dessert Contest was recently optioned for TV by Lisa Kudrow.

Dan has received fellowships and scholarships to the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences.
